Istria

Istria is the largest peninsula in the Adriatic, and the westernmost Croatian county. It abounds with natural diversity and touristic potential. The administrative centre of the county is the city of Pazin, and the economic centre is the city of Pula.

Tourism is particularly well-developed in Istria, and the most famous tourist centres are the towns of Poreč, Rovinj, Umag, Pula and Novigrad on the western coast, and Opatija, Lovran and Rabac on the eastern coast. The picturesque towns in Istria’s interior are also appealing to tourists.

The county is linked by a well-developed network of roads, and the sea-ports and the airport in Pula are likewise significant for transportation.
